The MOC test is performed to detect a possible predisposition to bone demineralization, a prelude to osteoporosis, and to initiate therapies that stop or slow down the disease. It is especially recommended for menopausal women, who are more susceptible to osteoporosis and therefore more at risk of osteoporotic fractures.
Many people may not realize they have osteoporosis until a spontaneous bone fracture occurs. It is therefore advisable to carry out this test also in a preventive manner in women in early menopause, in subjects who have undergone long-term cortisone therapies and for those who have had vertebral collapse.
